Giulio’s Restaurant – Tappan, NY

In the afternoon heat of an early September day, Lisa and Mark slipped away to enjoy a few quiet moments together in a beautiful vintage cadillac before becoming husband and wife…Don’t you just love where/how he holds her face!? So delicate, so sweet.

Here’s wishing you a relaxing and romantic weekend.

XOXO

These watercolor pigments are so vivid, right? Love that subtle burgundy in there. I’ll take both for my living room please! xoxo

OUR WEDDING: CHOOSING A DJ05.10.12

posted in Our Wedding

A quick Instagram photo of the DJ booth at our meeting

Pat and I always envisioned a DJ providing our wedding entertainment, and as luck would have it, we didn’t have to search very hard to find our musical match. As soon as we booked our reception venue, emails started rolling in from potential vendors with information about their services. One such email was from Scratch Weddings, and let me tell you, I was hooked on them the moment I visited their website. Each page was filled with useful information regarding the screening process they use to select their talent, what skills to look for in a wedding DJ, song suggestions from the ceremony to the last dance, and video samples of their DJs at work. I LOVED being able to see and hear how our potential DJ would handle mixing and scratching records for our guests.

After some time spent learning what I could online, I called up the lovely Monica Robinson, who happily reported that the DJ Pat and I were interested in hiring, was available on our date! We set up a meeting and a few days later were sitting in front of the booth pictured above discussing our musical preferences with the talented DJ Jon Blak. He listened attentively, took notes, and even shared a similar taste in music with us. This initial discussion took about 40 minutes – once I start talking about music, it becomes very difficult to stop. guilty – and then he did a live demo for us, which was nothing short of AWESOME. I did a solo performance, dancing my heart out for husband-to-be and Jon Blak, while Pat got a mini-lesson on how the equipment all works. It was the perfect vendor meeting, and if this initial experience is any indication of how much FUN the wedding will be, I am so glad we went with Scratch Weddings!

XOXO

JAMIE
